Water Management

Climate exerts a profound influence on populations vulnerable to hydro-meteorological hazard such as flooding and drought. Populations whose livelihood depends on rain-fed agriculture can benefit from appropriate use of seasonal climate/precipitation forecasts. CRED is interested in decision making and stakeholder engagement in water management and infrastructure development in the face of climate uncertainty.

With this research we hope to get a better understanding of the behavior of individuals and groups and participatory structures associated with the Water Allocation Seminars in the Ceará state of Brazil. Such knowledge helps to device improved decision support for the use of climate information for water management.
