Social Goals

Environmental decisions encompass many commons dilemma and interdependent security situations with tangible results for individuals and the immediate group as well as outcomes for larger groups and even future generations. How are decision processes affected by goals that the participants bring to decision processes, and by subsequent goals activated in the course of such decision processes? We try to identify the multiple goals of the various decision makers and the conditions that enhance or minimize the adoption of shared group goals.

To Cooperate or Not to Cooperate: Impact of Unrelated Collaboration on Social Dilemma »
This project studies cooperation in social dilemmas (where a coordinated strategy choices can benefit every member of a group, yet each member has an incentive to defect) to see if cooperation can become an important goal in-and-of-itself and if prior collaboration of group members has an impact.

Strategic Orientation in Individual and Group Decisions »
This project looks at promotion and prevention orientation in risky and conservative decisions, and how such orientation changes whether an individual makes decision alone or as a member of a group.
