Biography
Dr. Podestá holds a Ph.D. in Biological Oceanography from the University of Miami (1987), and a B.S. in Agronomy from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina (1979). After graduating from the Univ. of Miami, Dr. Podestá spent one year as a National Research Council Fellow at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. He returned to the Rosenstiel School as a postdoctoral associate, and joined the Meteorology and Physical Oceanography faculty in 1991.
Dr. Podestá received one of the first interdisciplinary faculty appointments at the Rosenstiel School: he held a joint appointment between the divisons of Meteorology and Physical Oceanography and Marine Biology and Fisheries. He currently holds a secondary appointment at the Division of Marine Affairs and Policy.
