Biography
Dr. Lyon received his Ph.D. in Meteorology from MIT where his thesis work focused on observational and diagnostic studies of seasonal and intraseasonal atmospheric variability. He was an adjunct professor of meteorology at the University of Massachusetts and a visiting professor of physics at Assumption College before joining the IRI in 1999.
Currently, Brad Lyon is working on a number of projects ranging from drought diagnostics and the impacts of drought to the evaluation of the spatial and temporal distribution of precipitation in the Asian Monsoon. He is also interested in land surface feedbacks on the atmosphere.
