Biography
Dr. Gorokhovich received his Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Sciences from the City University of New York and an M.S. in Engineering Geology from Odessa State University, Ukraine. As Associate Research Scientist at the Center for International Earth Science Information network (CIESIN), he works on spatial data integration, analysis, visualization, interpolation, surveying and mapping. His research involves Geographic Information System (GIS) applications in hydrology, earth and social sciences. Gorokhovich' main interests lie in glacial and coastal studies and he has been engaged in geoscience film documentaries. Yuri Gorokhovich also serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Engineering at Columbia University.
