Biography
Poonam Arora’s research examines the influence of social motivations, like status, on social, environmental and moral dilemmas. She received her PhD from Columbia University where as an NSF graduate research fellow, working with David Krantz and Tory Higgins, she examined the impact of the minimal status effect (status independent of power) on coordination dilemmas.Her past education also includes a MBA from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University with majors in Management Strategy, Marketing and Finance; a BBA summa cum laude from John Cabot University with a major in Business Economics and a minor in Psychology.
Her past experience includes working as a junior economist at the United Nations; a consultant with McKinsey and Company, Inc.; an investment banker at Citicorp Securities, Inc; and as the deputy executive director and CFO for a non-profit. She is fluent in Italian, Hindi, Punjabi, with some knowledge of French, has lived and /or worked in the United States, various countries of Europe, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Bangladesh, Nepal, Costa Rica and Canada.
